Launch of Volume 5:

The Honourable Mr. Justice Adrian Hardiman joined the Editor and the Editorial Board of the UCD Law Review to launch volume 5 of the University College Dublin Law Review on Wednesday the 12th of October in the Boardroom in Roebuck Castle. The evening was an unqualified success, and Mr. Justice Hardiman disappointed none of the assembled company, with his witty and intellectual rhetoric.

The Dean of the School of Law, Professor Paul O'Connor complimented the editorial board and the authors on the extremely high standard of all the articles published in this year's review. This year's volume features articles spanning Intellectual Property law, EU Law, Equity and Constitutional law to name but a few.

Niamh Howlin, Editor-In-Chief thanked the authors and the Editorial Board for their hard work during the year. She commented on the exceptionally high standard of all of the submissions received by the Editorial Board this year. Niamh also thanked Arthur Cox, and the members of the legal community whose continued support and patronage make the UCD Law Review possible.

Each year McCann Fitzgerald Solicitors sponsor two competitions run by the review: The Prize for Outstanding Article and the First Year Case Note Competition. This year, Aoife Nic Lochlainn was awarded the Prize for Outstanding Article for her piece on the doctrine of exhaustion and parallel importing of pharmaceuticals in the EU. Philip Tully, a second year BBLS student, was awarded the prize for the First Year Case Note Competition.

Towards the end of the evening, Dr Gavin Barrett announced that the Editor-In-Chief and the Deputy Editor for Volume 6 would be Stephen O'Halloran and Sally Hinfey.

Submissions for Volume 6 of the UCD Law Review are now open. Articles are submitted to an Editorial Board consisting of students chosen from the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School of Law. Once an article has been short-listed for publication, the members of the Editorial Board work with authors to make the articles publishable.

The Volume 6 Editorial Board will be running a number of legal writing seminars throughout the year, the details of which will be available shortly here. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us:
